Replace existing partition always installs bootloader

    Details

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Closed
    • Priority: Major
    • Resolution: Fixed
    • Affects Version/s: 2.4
    • Fix Version/s: 3.0, 2.4.6

    • Environment:

Using a KaOS test iso, with calamares 2.4.1

      Description

I choose Replace existing partition, select the one to replace and after that set to not install the bootloader, but calamares, on the resume screen, says that it will install it. And really it did that.

            Confirmed this issue.
Tested on a BIOS system, doing both a manual and replace partition install on the exact same partition, same XFS filesystem used.
Selecting replace with no bootloader, Global storage shows bootLoader entry never changes and the subsequent install runs the grub install line.

Attached is the log for the manual install, same setup, Global storage shows a correct change of the bootLoader to empty. Relevant part:

            16:09:44 [0]: Finished. Exit code: 0
            16:09:44 [0]: Starting job "bootldr"
            no bootloader install
            16:09:44 [0]: Starting job "gummi_entries"
            16:09:44 [0]: Starting job "umount"
            umount: /tmp/calamares-root-oak_3p0v/sys (sys) unmounted

To add to this, I also discovered that the Replace Partition option always tries to install the bootloader to /dev/sda, even when I selected /dev/sdb. I'll attach screenshots. For me this is happening with Calamares 2.4.5.
